10 Tips to Help You Get More Sleep

I used to have a lot of trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. I’m still not 100%, but it’s a lot better now and I don’t lay in bed for hours at a time thinking and stressing. I’ve included some tips below that have really helped me over the years.

  1. Get up and do some light stretches or night yoga
  2. Have a notepad by your bed to record your thoughts so you don’t keep stressing about the same things over and over
  3. Engage in sleeping breathing exercises (particularly the 4-7-8 method)
  4. Listen to delta waves on youtube
  5. Meditate
  6. Drink chamomile or sleepytime tea or warm milk
  7. Rub calming oil on your temples
  8. Use a lavender or bed spray that will help lull you to sleep
  9. Turn out any lights, electronics, televisions, or anything that might illuminate the room and make it difficult for you to sleep (sometimes this can hinder your sleep without you even realizing it). If your room seems too light, you might want to invest in blackout curtains.
  10. Use quality ear plugs and/or an eye mask, like my current favorite silky one, which is super light and breathable. This keeps distractors out and can kinda put your body into sleep mode. It also makes bed time feel more like a spa day.
