It’s true: Frozen pizza really can taste as good as delivery…and it can be hot and ready to eat in way less time than delivery. It’s not great to make a habit of eating frozen pizza, but when you need a quick, cheap fix, it can be just what the doctor ordered. And I’ve got some tips to make it even better.
1. Add Extra Cheese
2. Add Toppings
You can add traditional toppings like pepperoni and olives, or unique toppings like crispy kale and feta. You can add fresh veggies or tomatoes, or you can top with leftover ham or chicken and herbs for a unique twist. Or our favorite combo: pineapple and jalapeños.
3. Upgrade the Crust
Brush garlic-infused olive oil or melted butter with garlic powder and a little Italian seasoning on the crust for the last few minutes of cooking. Or you can brush EVOO on the crust before you begin baking if you like a darker, crispier crust. You could even rub some raw garlic on the crust after baking for extra garlic flavor. Technically, the crust could be an impromptu round of garlic bread…way better than plain ole’ crust.
4. Turn It Into a Salad
After cooking, top with arugula, olive oil, and lemon juice, or romaine and caesar dressing for a salad pizza. The picture above does not have salad on it, but I couldn’t find one with salad on it…wasn’t in a healthy mood 😛
5. Cook Directly On the Oven Rack
This will give you a crispier crust than if you used a baking sheet or pizza stone.
6. Let the Oven Get Hot
Preheat your oven for a crispier crust. You can also leave it under the broiler for about 30 seconds at the end. You can also use a fork to poke holes in the bottom of the crust so that steam can escape and give you a crispier crust.
7. Top with even more parmesan and chili pepper flakes
When you do order pizza delivery, ask for extra little packets of parmesan and chili pepper flakes, and then horde them in an overstuffed condiments’ drawer for moments like these 😉
8. Have a Sharp Cutting Wheel
